From September 1943 the Army Specialized Training Program sent him to the University of Wyoming in Laramie and to Stanford University in California for the Foreign Area and Language course of Army Specialized Training Unit No. 3905. Probably in early 1944 he was transferred to the Military Intelligence Training Center at Camp Ritchie and assigned directly to the 2nd Mobile Radio Broadcasting Company, taking propaganda training at Camp Sharpe, Pennsylvania.
