The 60 Minutes program on May 9 has led to a number of people digging into their Father's or Grandfather's records and discovering that they were Ritchie Boys. Here is a excellent example. [[White, Alfred C. (01299331)|Alfred White]] from Massachusetts "joined the 87th infantry that later became the 10th Mountain Division. He was then sent to Fort Benning for officer training where he was then sent to Camp Ritchie for Intelligence Training. He was not Jewish but his grandmother was German and he spoke German. He was severely injured in Aachen on October 8, 1944 and discharged with a 100% disability. This is his DD214."
Alfred C. White (24 November 1917 – 1971) was born in Somerville, Massachusetts. He joined the 87th Infantry (later the 10th Mountain Division), attended officer training at Fort Benning, and trained at Camp Ritchie in class 4 in aerial photo interpretation and military intelligence. He was not Jewish; his grandmother was German and he spoke German. He served as Assistant G-2 (intelligence) with Company K, 18th Infantry Regiment, fought in Normandy, Northern France, and the Rhineland, and was severely wounded in Germany on 8 October 1944. He was discharged as a captain from Cushing General Hospital, Framingham, Massachusetts, on 31 October 1946 with a 100% disability. His decorations included the Silver Star, Purple Heart, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal (American Theater), European–African–Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and World War II Victory Medal.
