Worked as waiter, counterman. Samuel Butterklee was born in Vienna, Austria. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant on July 29, 1943 (ASN 01057968), and served as a platoon officer with the 133rd AAA Gunnery Battalion. He began Camp Ritchie Class 15 in January 1944 and later served in military intelligence with the 26th Infantry Division. In November 1944 Butterklee became officer in charge of MI Team 472-G. He was promoted to first lieutenant in January 1945 and was later assigned as officer in charge of MI Team 475-G.
