He departed from Fort Hamilton, NY on the SS Evangeline for Algiers where he arrived on June 21, 1943 and was attached to the First Army. Sergeant Cucuzzella also served in Mobile Field Interrogation Unit-4 (MFIU-4), and his last assignment in the Army was with HQ Company of the 26th Infantry Division RB Cucuzzella returned home in October 1945.
