Max Horlick was born in New Jersey to immigrant parents. He studied French at Rutgers University and trained at Camp Ritchie, graduating with Class 19 (MII French) on 13 July 1944 and later completing postgraduate IPW work associated with Class 21.

At end of October 1944, fifteen IPW teams (30 officers and 60 enlisted men) were transported to Camp Shanks and then embarked on the SS Aquitania to ETO (Scotland).

He recently he has continued research and to prepare an article on the influence of Ritchie in the Battle of the Bulge, under the impetus of Dan Gross. The momento that Ronald Friedman shared a photo of (below right) was a familiar object in our house.... He went overseas and served in the Battle of the Bulge, and interrogated captured German Officers.
