. John was born July 3, 1914 in New Haven, Connecticut. John passed away on Jan 25, 1998 at the age of 83. Farnham on June 18, 1938. He received a Ph.D. in history at Yale in 1941 and the following year was an assistant in instruction at Yale and also taught at the Hartford Junior College. He then became an instructor in history at Wellesley, continuing there until he entered service as a Private in the summer of 1943. He was at Camp Lee, Va., for a time, was later at Camp Ritchie, Md., then stationed in England.
John Hewitt Mitchell was born on 3 July 1914 in New Haven, Connecticut. He married Frances E. Farnham on 18 June 1938, earned a Ph.D. in history from Yale in 1941, and taught at Yale, Hartford Junior College, and Wellesley College.
 
Mitchell entered the Army as a private in summer 1943. After time at Camp Lee, Virginia, he trained at Camp Ritchie (Class 14) and was subsequently stationed in England. He died on 25 January 1998.
