Raymond Paul Raux (7 July 1910–10 July 1943) was a French-born Camp Ritchie trainee (Class 1) and U.S. Army second lieutenant with the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division; he was killed in action in Sicily while attempting to talk an enemy pillbox into surrender.

Raymond Paul Raux was born on 7 July 1910 in Gainneville, France, and came to the United States with his mother and sister after his father’s death in France. He completed college work toward secondary-school teaching and in 1942 was living in Nassau County, Long Island.
Drafted on 23 June 1942 at Fort Jay (enlisted ASN 32358404), he was later commissioned a second lieutenant (ASN 01305111). On 14 February 1943 he married Doris Katherine Strobridge in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, while serving at Camp Ritchie (Class 1; research notes also associate Italian IPW Class 4 / Team 5 before overseas movement).
In early July 1943 Raux joined Headquarters Company, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, days before the Sicily invasion. On 10 July 1943, near a crossroads about three miles south of Vittoria, he approached a pillbox alone to demand surrender and was shot in the passageway. Major Robert M.
