Herman Landman was born on 23 November 1925 in Brooklyn, New York~~. He~~ had his bar mitzvah in Havana, Cuba. ~~On 28 February 1944 he enlisted and~~ trained in counterintelligence at Camp Ritchie (Class 24)~~. Landman served~~ in the Philippines and then in occupied Japan ~~before discharge~~ on 27 April 1946.

Herman Landman was born on 23 November 1925 in Brooklyn, New York, and had his bar mitzvah in Havana, Cuba. He entered the service in 1943, trained in counterintelligence at Camp Ritchie (Class 24), and was stationed in the Philippines and then in occupied Japan. He was discharged on 27 April 1946.

A graduate of Columbia College, he later ~~belonged to~~ the Wantagh Jewish Center~~, where he served as vice president~~. Trilingual ~~and~~ an avid reader and traveler, he taught Yiddish to help preserve that heritage. He died on 10 July 2002 ~~at age 76~~.

A graduate of Columbia College, he married Shirley Witt; they had two daughters, Patricia Landman and Danielle Landman, M.D. (both later deceased). Landman was a member and former vice president of the Wantagh Jewish Center and took a strong interest in Israel and Judaic studies. Trilingual, an avid reader and traveler, he taught Yiddish to help preserve that heritage.

Later of Delray Beach, Florida, he was active as a Head Start godparent and speaker, a member of the Governor’s Counsel, and a supporter of conservation and animal rights. He died on 10 July 2002.
