Desider A. Simcoe Jr. (1919–1997) was a Ritchie Boy (Class 25) who served in Air Corps intelligence in Europe and Korea and later as an Air Force plant representative.

Biography

Desider A. Simcoe Jr. was born in 1919 and is described in a postwar Air Force plant article as a native of Trenton, New Jersey. He graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. In industrial engineering and was attending law school at Georgetown University when World War II began. He joined the Air Corps in 1942.

After flying school and assignments as a flying training instructor and squadron commander, Simcoe was sent to the Military Intelligence School at Camp Ritchie, Maryland (Class 25). In 1945 he received an intelligence assignment in the Mediterranean theater and later served in Vienna on the air staff of General Mark Clark. He returned to the United States in 1947 for Russian language study at Monterey, then served at the Air Technical Intelligence Center; technical intelligence work took him to Japan and Korea at the outbreak of the Korean War.

Simcoe held a Commendation Ribbon for work with General Clark in Austria and the Bronze Star for technical intelligence work in Korea. By the mid-1950s he was an Air Force plant representative at Northrop. He died in 1997.
