Emil H. Chimot was born on 14 March 1902 in Paris, France. He married Louise Briton in Paris in 1923; the couple settled in Battle Creek, Michigan, about 1927, where he worked as laundry manager at Leila Hospital.
 
Chimot enlisted on 2 July 1942 and was promoted from private to sergeant before transfer from Savannah, Illinois, to [[Camp Ritchie]], Maryland ([[Class 3]]), for Military Intelligence Training Center duty (reported address: M.I.T. Co., 2nd Infantry, Training Battalion). He completed U.S. Citizenship qualifications in 1942. He died in 1983.
