He worked as a professor Emeritus Paul Fetler passed away on July 7, 2018. He was the recipient of awards from the Society for the Publication of American Music, the Guggenheim Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Fetler began his tenure at the University of Minnesota School of Music as a graduate student and received his doctoral degree in 1956, where his major advisor was Dr. He taught at the University of Minnesota until his retirement in 1990.
