Joseph Emory Barge Shi was born on 6 July 1920 in Leesburg, Georgia. He enlisted in the Army on 16 November 1942 and completed Camp Ritchie's [[:Category:Class 17|Class 17]] on 8 May 1944.


Graduate of the 17th Class. Born July 6 1920 in Alabama. He passed away March 10 2004 in Georgia. He was awarded a Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in connection with military operations against the enemy in Mindanao, Philippine Islands during the period of April 17 - June 30 1945. As a technical sergeant in military intelligence at X Corps headquarters, Shi worked as a draftsman in a photo-interpretation section. He received the Bronze Star for preparing sketch maps and aerial-photo interpretations under limited field conditions during operations on Mindanao from 17 April to 30 June 1945. Shi died in Georgia on 10 March 2004.
