Alfred C. White (~~1917–1971~~) of Massachusetts joined the 87th Infantry (later the 10th Mountain Division), attended officer training at Fort Benning, and trained at Camp Ritchie in class 4 in aerial photo interpretation and military intelligence. He was not Jewish; his grandmother was German and he spoke German. He fought in Normandy, Northern France, and the Rhineland, was severely wounded ~~at Aachen~~ on 8 October 1944~~, and~~ was discharged with a 100% disability. ~~He received~~ the Purple Heart and ~~the Silver Star~~.
