Walter H. Hauboldt served as an interrogator and counter-intelligence specialist. According to a page of his military record (gallery), he was inducted on 24 July 1942 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin; completed basic military-intelligence training through October 1942; and worked with the Counter Intelligence Corps, Headquarters, Sixth Service Command, Chicago. He was attached to Camp Ritchie (Military Intelligence Training Center, Maryland) from 10 April to 20 June 1943, followed by advanced counter-intelligence schooling in June–July 1943.

He was inducted on 24 July 1942 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, completed basic military-intelligence training through October 1942, and worked with the Counter Intelligence Corps, Headquarters, Sixth Service Command, Chicago, before attachment to Camp Ritchie (Class 7).


Through December 1943 he collected foreign industrial intelligence for M.I.S. in Chicago. Later pages of his record include a report dated 5 December 1944 on the interrogation of a prisoner of war recently released from the Philippines (September 1944); the interrogator named is Walter H. Hauboldt. The same record notes a staff-sergeant rank "for administrative purposes" while he worked as a civilian specialist under an APO San Francisco address.
By late 1944 he was conducting interrogations of recently released prisoners of war from the Philippines; a report dated 5 December 1944 names him as the interrogator of a repatriated POW in that series.
