Harry Perlman (2 December 1917 – 11 February 1979) was a Ritchie Boy (from Romania; Jewish) who trained at Camp Ritchie in class 4.

Biography

Harry Perlman (1917-1979) was born in Bucharest, Romania. He entered active service on 9 November 1942 and separated at Fort Dix, New Jersey, on 12 December 1945. His separation qualification record identifies him as an interpreter and interrogator who translated French and German into English, worked with counterintelligence among civilians in occupied territory, and served 20 months in the European Theater of Operations with Third Army headquarters. It also records a sequence of assignments that culminated in interpreter duty.

Perlman graduated from the fourth course at the Military Intelligence Training Center, Camp Ritchie, on 6 March 1943. His military education record lists the French Interpreter course at Camp Ritchie in 1943 and Combat Intelligence at the American School Center in England in 1944. A 13 November 1944 certificate places Technician Third Grade Perlman on MII Team 403-G, attached to the G-2 section of Third United States Army headquarters. The separation record states that he was authorized to wear four battle stars on his European ribbon.

Before and after his military service, Perlman worked in textiles. His separation record identifies earlier work as production manager and assistant manager at a textile firm in Bucharest and records additional study in textile engineering in Mulhouse, France.
