Leonard M. Mcnutt (1913–2017) was a United States Army Major who trained at Camp Ritchie, Maryland, in Class 22.

Biography

He worked as a in 1948, he returned to Fort Benning, where he was assigned Director of Army Publications. Leonard attended His unit studied the German Army and demonstrated its organization, weapons and tactics Leonard “Curly” McNutt and his wolfhound, Jack “Curly” and his pig, Rover. Leonard assumed that, as a former teacher, he was considered a writer. After the completion of this tour, Leonard was assigned for three years to staff the Far East Command of the United Nations, Tokyo, Japan. He retired from this command in June 1960, with 30 years of service, two Outstanding Service Awards and a Bronze Star. In four years he wrote three new manuals (Mountain, Airborne, and Guerrilla warfare) and updated over twenty old manuals and training films.

• November 1940 — Platoon Leader, 142nd Infantry Regiment.
• May 1941 — Company Commander, 142nd Infantry Regiment, as 1st Lt.
• March 1942 — Battalion Adjutant, 142nd Infantry Regiment.
• When he was called to federal duty by FDR, he already had ten years service credit and was a 2nd Lt. In his first year of active duty, he commanded Co. F 142 Regt. His next duty at Infantry School, Ft. Benning, Georgia, with its tactical course of study, led to a unique, secret, war time mission. In 1942, he was transferred to Headquarter Military.
• 23 June 1943 — Promoted to Major.
• January 1945 — Graduated Class 21.
• In 1948 — He returned to Fort Benning, where he was assigned Director of Army Publications.
• ? Entered Army service as Lt. (ASN: 0405892).
