Arnold M. Silver was born on 4 December 1919 in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from Tufts University and received a master’s degree in German philology from Harvard University in 1942.
Silver entered Camp Ritchie in September 1942 (ASN 13106118) and trained as a German linguist, graduating as a Technician Third Grade (certificate 8441).
