[[Kaufmann, Ellen J. (A206769)|Ellen J. Kaufmann]] (later Ellen Kaufmann Boucher) was born in 1920 in Mainz, Germany. After anti-Jewish measures closed her father’s shop and Jewish schools, she emigrated to the United States in 1937 with her grandmother. She later learned that her parents and sister Marianne had been deported. Kaufmann joined the Women’s Army Corps in 1943 and by early 1944 was a German interrogation instructor at Camp Ritchie (Technician Fourth Grade, ASN A-206769). She married Melville Boucher at Camp Ritchie in 1946 and died in 2014.

This 1995 cable-television interview in Canandaigua, New York (conducted by Angela Barrington in response to a Holocaust denier) covers her childhood in Mainz, Nazi restrictions, immigration, and the deportation and deaths of family members. A transcript is among the Ellen Kaufmann Boucher papers at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (Accession 2018.38.2).
