Nazi Millionaires tells the stories of German SS Officers who crammed trains, cars, and trucks full of gold, currency and jewels, and headed for the mountains of Austria as the war was coming to an end. Allied soldiers were determined to find the stolen loot, and they were successful in apprehending most of these men. Many of the Allied Investigators were with the Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC) and were German speaking. Some were Ritchie Boys, who obviously knew the language and had the skills to interrogate the SS Officers. Many of the CIC investigations did not identify the interrogators. I did find two instances where Ritchie Boys were named - Lieutenant George Wenzel and CIC Special Agent Robert Matteson. | |||
