' | Holtzer was a Ritchie Boy. William was born September 8, 1916 in Rock Island, Illinois. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1934. He graduated from St. Ambrose College in 1939 with a bachelor's degree in economics. Ambrose, he was a member of the football team, which went undefeated for three years while he played. He was inducted into the St. Ambrose College Hall of Fame in 1988. He was a World War II Army veteran, working in counterintelligence, both locally and in Germany. He enlisted on March 31, 1941. William worked as a claims adjuster for Employers Mutual Insurance Co., Des Moines, Iowa, for 15 years and retired in 1981. He previously had worked 15 years for Fireman's Fund Insurance Co. and in early years for Bituminous Insurance Co., Rock Island. William Holtzer passed away on October 30, 2002 at the age of 86. | ||
