John E. Dolibois (1918–2014) was a Ritchie Boy (from Lux; Catholic) who trained at Camp Ritchie in class 18.

Biography

John Ernest Dolibois (né Jean Ernst Dolibois; 4 December 1918 – 2 May 2014) was a Luxembourg-born Ritchie Boy who trained at Camp Ritchie in class 18 and served as a second lieutenant in Army intelligence (G-2). At the Nuremberg trials he interrogated Nazi leader Hermann Göring.

He emigrated to the United States with his father in 1931, settling in Akron, Ohio. He graduated from North High School in Akron and earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Miami University, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946.

After the war he became a university administrator and diplomat. President Ronald Reagan appointed him United States Ambassador to Luxembourg in 1981; he served until 1985. He was awarded the Order of the Oak Crown by Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg in 1987. His autobiography, Pattern of Circles: An Ambassador's Story, was published by Kent State University Press in 1989.
