Burton Hastings (1924–2016) was a United States Army Technician Fifth Grade who trained at Camp Ritchie, Maryland, in Class 16.

In his book “Spies”, Vassiliev wrote: "In 1933, Allen was a fully recruited and undoubtedly witting Soviet (KGB) agent. Together with Drew Pearson, Allen authored the Washington Merry-Go.
