After I earned my degree I worked as an assistant to several chemistry professors before entering the army. The play was written and directed by Joseph Anthony, a professional director, who had several credits with New York City Broadway shows. To this day, I have maintained contact with some of the Japanese nationals I worked with during the occupation. Finally I left the islands in August 1941 to enroll at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Being a member of a minority within a minority did not make for a happy childhood. The primary responsibility of this organization was to observe and report on the activities of the Japan communist Party, the Japan Socialist Party, labor unions and Japanese ultra-nationalists. Actually the CIA was very much involved in the activities of the Far East Command Liaison Department. My assignment after being transferred to CIA did not change. Soon after the war with Japan began I was investigated by two FBI agents but nothing came of it. Soon thereafter I was transferred to Tokyo and a year later I decided to leave the CIA and return to Hawaii. In March 1953, I resigned my captain's commission because I was recruited by the CIA. He i remained in this organization until March, 1953. The primary mission of the unit was to investigate Japanese POWs captured by the Soviets and returned to Japan as radio agents. | |||
