Nick C. Emanuel (1924 – 14 March 1945) was a Ritchie Boy (from Germany; Jewish) who trained at Camp Ritchie in class 13 and served with IPW Team 178 ?.

Biography

His father, Eugene, was admitted as a citizen on 14 December 1943. Nick graduated high school in New York. On this Memorial Day, let us remember those Ritchie Boys who died in Europe while serving our country and fighting to defend our freedoms. Emanuel was born in Mannheim, Germany on July 5, 1924, and emigrated to the United States aboard the US Berengaria on December 6, 1936 with his mother and older brother. Nick enlisted in the US Army on July 26, 1943, despite not being a citizen. He was commissioned a 2nd Lt. shortly after his enlistment. Emanuel was serving in the 82nd Airborne Division and was attached to the HQ Company, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment on 11 September 1944. He is buried in the King David Cemetery, Putnam Valley, NY.
