Wolfgang Robinow received the Silver Star on August 10, 1945. Robinow (ASN: 33004252), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the Military Intelligence Service, 42d Infantry Division, in action on 16 April 1945, near Perbach, Germany. When the patrol he accompanied as interpreter was ambushed by strong enemy forces on three sides, Sergeant Robinow noticed that one of his men was wounded.
Wolfgang F. Robinow was a German-born Jewish Ritchie Boy who emigrated to the United States and enlisted from Baltimore, Maryland. He trained at [[Camp Ritchie]] in Class 18 and served as an interpreter with IPW Team 155 and Military Intelligence Service elements attached to the 42nd Infantry Division.


Sergeant Robinow then returned with three tanks, directing their fire from his position on top of one, until his unit succeeded in withdrawing. Disregarding his own safety he advanced through intense fire to his vehicle, turned it around and carried the wounded man back to the aid station, though himself wounded in the left arm. His outstanding courage and determination saved a fellow soldier from possible death or capture and enabled the patrol to withdraw."
