[[Goodwin, Alfred (39094012)|Alfred Goodwin]] was born Alfred Gutmann on 4 August 1914 in Karlsruhe, Baden, Germany, and immigrated to the United States in 1936, settling in Portland, Oregon, with the family firm Bissinger & Company. Drafted in 1942, he trained at Camp Ritchie (Class 4 / IPW Team 33), served as a POW interrogator in Europe—including Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge—with the 409th Infantry, and received the Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster. He was discharged as a master sergeant in 1945, later married Lottie Hirsch, and returned to the hide and wool business in Oregon and Utah. He died on 28 May 1993.
