When Landon Grove, the curator of the future Ritchie Museum to be located on the site of Camp Ritchie, was a student at Indiana University one of his professors was the son of Ritchie Boy Jerome Sandweiss. RB Sandweiss was a staff sergeant in the Counter Intelligence Corps. He served in the Philippines and, after the Japanese surrender, at Tokyo’s Sugamo Prison, where he guarded Gestapo chief Josef Meisinger — “The Butcher of Warsaw,” who was hanged after his return to Germany.
