Alexander Lucien Gilbert (1922–2005) was a Ritchie Boy (from Romania; Jewish) who trained at Camp Ritchie in class 7.

Biography

Bernie Gilbert sent a picture of his late Father, Ritchie Boy Alexander Lucien Gilbert. According to his son, French-born Alexander fled with his parents from Marseilles at the end of 1940. His given name was Lucien Alexandre Givelberg; he changed it upon obtaining US citizenship.

His dad "never spoke of the war or what he did," and his son believes he was in the 3rd Army. Because he spoke English fluently, he was transferred to Camp Ritchie.
