William R. Duckworth (1921–2006) was a Ritchie Boy (from United States; Protestant) who trained at Camp Ritchie in class 18.

Biography

was a Ritchie Boy. He was born Oct. 27, 1921, in Salinas. Williams was a descendant of original California pioneer families, the Duckworths and Underwoods of Monterey and Bramers of Corral de Tierra. He enlisted in the Monterey 11th Army Horse Cavalry, February of 1942. In 1943, he attended OCA, specialized in antiaircraft artillery and intelligence. William was discharged in 1946 as a 1st Lieutenant. He was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, Camp Ritchie, MD., Camp Lockett, Calif. He graduated from University of California, Berkeley in 1948 with a degree in agricultural economics. He worked as executive with Spreckels Sugar Company in Woodland and Salinas until retirement in 1983. William passed away April 25, 2006 at the age of 84.
