Victor Hergenreter (1919–2008) was a Ritchie Boy (from United States; Protestant) who trained at Camp Ritchie in class 9.
Biography
Victor Hergenreter was a Ritchie Boy. Victor was born January 30, 1919 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He enlisted on July 27, 1942. Victor was in Military Intelligence, and trained at Sheppard Field, Texas; Lowry Field, Colorado; West Palm Beach, Florida; Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Camp Ritchie, Maryland He was sent overseas, on April 1, 1945 and served in European Theatre. He participated in the Battle of the Rhine, and returned to US on April 18, 1946. He was discharged on June 25, 1946, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, having attainedd the rank of Captain and served served: 47 Months. After his discharge, he was noted as being a lawyer. Records indicate he was discharged from service (again) on January 13, 1979 at age 60, would would have meant Victor must have gone back into the military service at some point in his life. If the record is correct. Victor passed away on March 2, 2008 at age 89.
