Hans F. W. Koehnke (20 September 1910 – 1990) was a Ritchie Boy (from Germany; Protestant) who trained at Camp Ritchie in class 10.

Biography

Hans F. W. Koehnke (1910–1990) was born in Hamburg, Germany, and emigrated to the United States in 1936. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at Fort Dix, New Jersey, on 23 January 1941, and entered active service the same day. His 4 December 1945 Enlisted Record and Report of Separation identifies him as a technician fourth grade (T/4) in the 6825th Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Military Intelligence Service (MIS/A), and records his honorable discharge at Fort Dix.

The same record lists his military occupational specialty as librarian, overseas service from 5 March 1944 to 28 November 1945, and campaigns in Rome–Arno, the North Apennines, and the Po Valley. It records the American Defense Service Medal, European–African–Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. Koehnke trained at Camp Ritchie's Military Intelligence Training Center in 1943, class 10, with a specialty in interrogation of prisoners of war.
