Herman H. Bohlsen (18 October 1906 – 16 August 1993) was a German-born Ritchie Boy from Ostrhauderfehn who later ran Long Island restaurants with his family.
Biography
Herman H. Bohlsen was born on 18 October 1906 in Ostrhauderfehn, Germany. A Catholic immigrant who enlisted from New York City, he trained at Camp Ritchie during World War II and was discharged at Fort Dix on 29 August 1945, receiving the Good Conduct Medal.
With his wife Hilda he opened the Pine Lake Tavern on Long Island; the family later operated several restaurants in the area. Bohlsen died on 16 August 1993 and is buried at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.
