Irving Levi (1920–1988) was a Ritchie Boy (from Germany; Jewish) who trained at Camp Ritchie in class 27.
Biography
Carole Blauweiss, recently reached out to inquire about the possibility that her late cousin, Irving Levi was a Ritchie Boy. Pfc Irving Levi does appear in the appendix of Bruce Henderson's book, Sons and Soldiers, as a German-Jewish Ritchie Boy. According to RB historian Dan Gross' research, Irving was born in 1920 in Ellwangen, Germany.
Pfc Levi shipped out to the European Theater of Operations in July 1945. Carole promises to send more information about RB Irving Levi. Carole Blauweiss, cousin of RB Irving Levi, directed me to this book written in 2006 by Inge Barth-Grozinger, Something Remains.
It is a historical novel written primarily about the experiences of Irving's younger brother, Erich Levi, growing up as a teenager in Germany in the 1930's. It does include references to Irving Levi, who was one year older than Erich. He attended Camp Ritchie and graduated in the 27th Class with a specialty in Counter-Intelligence.
