Eli A. Martinez (19 March 1912 – 18 March 1997) was a New Mexico–born Ritchie Boy (Classes 19 and 20) and longtime educator in New Mexico.

Biography

Eli A. Martinez was born on 19 March 1912 in Taos, New Mexico. He grew up in Taos, attended Menaul High School in Albuquerque, and later earned bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of New Mexico.

Martinez enlisted on 25 September 1943 and graduated from the Military Intelligence Training Center at Camp Ritchie (Classes 19 and 20). He was discharged on 28 March 1946.

After the war he taught and served as a principal: five years at Menaul, four years teaching Spanish at UNM, fourteen years at Vaughn, and eighteen years as principal of Santa Rosa Elementary School, retiring in 1993. He died at home in Santa Rosa on 18 March 1997 at age 84.
