Walter J. Pasela (1921–2022) was a Ritchie Boy (from United States; Catholic) who trained at Camp Ritchie in class 17.
Biography[edit | edit source]
According to his family, RB Pasela was born in Cleveland to Polish immigrants. He learned Polish at home and took German in school. He was at Camp Wheeler and Camp Ritchie where he concentrated in Photo Interpretation. He was supposed to have been shipped to the ETO but instead ended up in the Pacific (the unit that he was to have gone with to Europe suffered heavy casualties). After the war, he ended up with the Occupation Government in Japan.
