Joseph E. B. Shi (6 July 1920 – 10 March 2004) was a Ritchie Boy (from United States; Protestant) who trained at Camp Ritchie in class 17. The record lists a final rank of Technical Sergeant.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Joseph Emory Barge Shi was born on 6 July 1920 in Leesburg, Georgia. He enlisted in the Army on 16 November 1942 and completed Camp Ritchie's Class 17 on 8 May 1944.
As a technical sergeant in military intelligence at X Corps headquarters, Shi worked as a draftsman in a photo-interpretation section. He received the Bronze Star for preparing sketch maps and aerial-photo interpretations under limited field conditions during operations on Mindanao from 17 April to 30 June 1945. Shi died in Georgia on 10 March 2004.
