Frederick C. Ahrens (1908–2000) was a Canadian-born German-language professor and United States Army private first class who graduated from Camp Ritchie Class 19 on 13 July 1944 (ASN 36648505).

Biography

Frederick Christian Ahrens was born in Canada in 1908 and later settled in the United States. He served in the United States Army from 1941 to 1945. At the Military Intelligence Training Center at Camp Ritchie, Maryland, he completed Class 19 as a private first class (ASN 36648505), graduating on 13 July 1944; roster records also associate him with IPW team 160.

After the war Ahrens taught German at Gettysburg College from 1946 to 1963. He received degrees from Waterloo College and the University of Western Ontario and earned a Ph.D. From Columbia University on 8 June 1950. From 1963 to 1974 he taught at Monmouth College (later Monmouth University) in West Long Branch, New Jersey, heading the language department before retiring. He was a member of the Modern Language Association and the American Association of Teachers of German.

Ahrens died on 20 January 2000 at age 91 in the Mount Holly, New Jersey, area. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Isabel.
