Robert Sellers Campbell (7 June 1921 – 10 February 2010) was a United States Army officer who trained at Camp Ritchie, Maryland, in Class 9 and served in the Southwest Pacific.
Biography edit
Robert Sellers Campbell was born on 7 June 1921 in Pipestone, Minnesota. He entered the Army on 16 July 1942 in the Field Artillery and trained at Camp Swift, Texas; Fort Sill, Oklahoma; Camp Roberts and other West Coast posts; the University of Washington; Camp Ritchie (Class 9); and Camp Clatsop, Oregon.
Overseas from 7 March 1944 to 3 January 1946, Campbell served in the Southwest Pacific with engagements at Leyte, Hollandia, western Luzon and Bataan, and Mindanao. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart among other theater awards and was discharged as a captain at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin, on 25 March 1946 after forty-four months’ service. Campbell died on 10 February 2010.
