John Joseph Ciluzzi (1923 – 6 May 2017) was a Ritchie Boy (from United States; Catholic) who trained at Camp Ritchie in class 12.

Biography edit

John Joseph Ciluzzi was born on 25 September 1923 in New York City. He spent part of his childhood in Italy, attended school in Rome, returned to the United States, and studied engineering at Seton Hall College from 1941 to 1943.

Ciluzzi volunteered for the Army in 1943 and received mountaineering and ski training with the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale. He then completed Italian interpreter and interrogator training at Camp Ritchie (Class 12) and served as an intelligence NCO and Italian-English interpreter in Europe. His service included the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe campaigns.

After the war he worked for Ford Motor Company before buying the Masthead Resort in Provincetown, Massachusetts, in 1959. He and his wife Valerie operated it for nearly sixty years, and Ciluzzi remained active in the Provincetown community until his death on 6 May 2017.
