Alois J. Liethen (1908–1961) was a United States Army Second Lieutenant who trained at Camp Ritchie, Maryland, in Class 15.

Biography

Alois attended college at the University of Wisconsin (BS, Economics). He worked as a salesman for a feed manufacturer.

On 27 November 1942, he enlisted in the Army in Milwaukee as a private (ASN: 36287007). In June 1943, he served as a battery officer with 134th AAA Gunnery Battalion, Fort Bliss, TX. On 3 June 1943, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant (ASN: 01056782). On 10 December 1943, he arrived as a student at Camp Ritchie. In 1944, he was promoted to first lieutenant. On 4 January 1944, he entered Class 15 (IPW Ge). On 3 March 1944, he graduated from Class 15 (Officer in charge IPW Ge Team). On 29 April 1944, he was released from Camp Ritchie. On 10 May 1944, he embarked from New York (Camp Shanks) on the 26,689-ton RMS Andes. On 18 May 1944, he debarked in Liverpool. On 5 June 1944, he served as officer in charge of IPW Team 69 attached to XX Corps (Third Army).
