Harold G. Mandel (1924–2011) was a United States Army Private who trained at Camp Ritchie, Maryland, in Class 28. Harold enlisted at New York City, New York.

Biography edit

Mandel became a United States citizen in 1944. He in his letter recommending Mandel for emeritus status, Chiappinelli wrote. The award was presented at the annual banquet of the society, held on 16 April in Philadelphia in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology. Mandel joined GW in 1949 as a research associate and served as a faculty member from 1950 to 2010, including 36 years as department chair of the Department of Pharmacology prior to its merger with Physiology. Equally passionate about research and policy, Mandel served as chair of the National Caucus of Basic Biomedical Science Chairs from its founding in 1991 until 2008. He became a member of the Society of Distinguished Teachers at SMHS in 2001.
