Emerico Nemes (1914 – 24 February 1977) was a Fiume-born scholar and Ritchie Boy (Class 11) who worked intelligence documents in London and later taught languages in Vermont.
Biography edit
Emerico Nemes was born in 1914 in Fiume (then in northern Italy). He attended high school in Milan and studied at the University of Florence, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, and served as an officer in the Italian Navy before accepting a scholarship to the University of Toledo, arriving in the United States in 1939.
Nemes entered U.S. military intelligence work connected with Camp Ritchie (Class 11). A 1947 Saint Michael's College profile records about eighteen months in London during the Blitz working on captured German and Italian documents and papers. He later taught in the language department at Saint Michael's (Winooski Park, Vermont).
He died on 24 February 1977.
