Harry G. Skipper (8 May 1920 – 25 February 2009) was a Ritchie Boy who trained at Camp Ritchie.

Biography

Harry "Cecil" Skipper (8 May 1920-25 February 2009) enlisted on 11 December 1941. He completed the 13-week Infantry Replacement Training Center course at Camp Roberts, California, from 2 January to 2 April 1942, serving in Company C of the 87th Infantry Training Battalion. His Camp Ritchie certificate records completion of a special course for Division Class 36 at the Military Intelligence Training Center from 17 November through 15 December 1944.

Skipper's separation records identify him as a technical sergeant assigned to Headquarters Company, 216th Armored Engineer Battalion, and record his honorable discharge at Camp Grant, Illinois, on 19 January 1946. His military occupational assignments included basic training, operations NCO, clerical NCO, and intelligence NCO. The qualification record describes intelligence NCO duties involving collection, evaluation, interpretation, and distribution of enemy and counterintelligence information, including maps supplied to the division. It records service in the Central Europe campaign and lists the American Defense Service, American Campaign, European-African-Middle Eastern with one bronze service star, Good Conduct, and World War II Victory awards.

His military education record lists a four-week Military Intelligence course at Camp Ritchie covering fundamentals of the German Army and Army Information Education courses. Before entering the Army, he studied electrical engineering at Millikin University and worked as a stock clerk.
