- 6/1944 Landed in Normandy. Won Bronze Star. Promoted to Captain.
- 26 April 1945 Awarded Silver Star for bravery on dangerous mission in Hostau, Czechoslovakia. This resulted in the saving of the Lipizzaner horses.
