John H. Brunswick, born Hans Braunschweig in Bocholt, was a German-born U.S. Army prisoner-of-war interrogator. Attached for much of the war to the Free French 2nd Armored Division, he served as interpreter at the May 1945 surrender of German Army Group G.

Biography

In May 1945, John served as official interpreter for surrender of all southern. John Brunswick was born Hans Braunschweig in Bocholt, Germany. He trained as an IPW at Camp Ritchie and served much of the war with a team attached to the Free French 2nd Armored Division under XV Corps, Third Army. In May 1945 he was the official interpreter when Gen. von Foertsch signed the surrender of German Army Group G before Gen. After the war he manufactured plastic household goods.
