Victor E. Delnore (1914–1998) was a United States Army Captain who trained at Camp Ritchie, Maryland, in Class 2.
Biography
Victor returned to the States, earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Maryland, and, at age 55, became a teacher of government and history at a local community college. He became a derivative American citizen in 1932, and in 1940 was called up to active Army duty. In 1932, he became naturalized American citizen. In March 1945, he served as Commander, 46th Tank Battalion, 13th Armored Division. He trained to become an administrator of occupied territories instead, and, on September 23, 1946, Colonel Victor Delnore arrived in Nagasaki to set up headquarters for his Nagasaki Military Government Team. On 29 August 1946, he left to become Commander of the Nagasaki Military Government Team. In 2012, he attended Papers (related to Japan) donated to the University of Maryland.
