Herman Landman (23 November 1925 – 10 July 2002) was a Brooklyn-born Ritchie Boy (Class 24) who served in the Philippines and occupied Japan.
Biography
Herman Landman was born on 23 November 1925 in Brooklyn, New York. He had his bar mitzvah in Havana, Cuba. On 28 February 1944 he enlisted and trained in counterintelligence at Camp Ritchie (Class 24). Landman served in the Philippines and then in occupied Japan before discharge on 27 April 1946.
A graduate of Columbia College, he later belonged to the Wantagh Jewish Center, where he served as vice president. Trilingual and an avid reader and traveler, he taught Yiddish to help preserve that heritage. He died on 10 July 2002 at age 76.
