William August Koenig was a Duke alumnus and Military Intelligence Service master sergeant who trained at Camp Ritchie in Class 16 and served in France and Germany.

Biography[edit | edit source]

William August Koenig graduated from Duke University in the Class of 1940. He enlisted in the Army in October 1942 and received infantry and intelligence training at Camp Ritchie, Maryland (Class 16).

As a master sergeant in the Military Intelligence Service he served in France and Germany attached to an infantry division. Contemporary alumni notes stated that little could be published about his duties because of their confidential nature.
