Charles E. Weber Jr. (22 October 1922–11 December 2002) was an American Ritchie Boy (Class 29) who later examined OKW records connected with the Nuremberg Trials and became a university language professor.
Biography
Charles E. Weber Jr. Was born on 22 October 1922 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was educated in Cincinnati public schools. He enlisted on 13 January 1943 at Cincinnati. In July 1943 he attended the Army Specialized Training Program at the University of Chicago as a private first class. After Signal Corps radio-monitoring training near Fresno, California, he was assigned in early 1945 to Camp Ritchie, Maryland (Class 29), for intelligence instruction including prisoner interrogation, map reading, and German order of battle.
Weber later worked on examination of German Supreme Command (OKW) records at the Fechenheim Document Center in connection with the Nuremberg Trials and lived for a time in postwar Germany. He earned a Ph.D. From the University of Cincinnati and held language professorships at the University of Missouri, Louisiana State University, and the University of Tulsa, retiring in 1982. He died on 11 December 2002.
