Adolf Steiner (1915–1995), also known as Albert Steiner, was a German-born Ritchie Boy (Class 8) who served with IPW Team 46 in the European Theater.
Biography edit
Adolf Steiner, also known as Albert Steiner, was born in 1915 in Germany and later lived in New York. He enlisted in the United States Army at New York City and trained at Camp Ritchie, Maryland, graduating with Class 8.
Steiner served with IPW Team 46 (German-language interrogation of prisoners of war) in the European Theater. Team records list him among the team’s officers from activation at Camp Ritchie on 15 December 1943 through later redeployment; the enlisted men’s diary dedication addressed him as Lt. A. Steiner. IPW Team 46 landed on Omaha Beach in June 1944 with the 30th Infantry Division and remained in continuous action through VE Day before inactivation after about twenty months.
Steiner died in 1995.
